Thirst for unparalleled uniqueness: A plethora of world records.

Our last article featured the famous talented face who broke the highest number of Guinness Book of World Records from Bangladesh- Konok Karmaker. It is the zeal of standing out from the crowd, which pushed Konok to be the multiple title holder. We DYDF-India team got an opportunity to talk with him.

From his childhood, he kept that inspiration lingering in the back of his mind to do something which is unique. From his primary school to college his thinking was different from his peers. Konok’s interest to learn new techniques of football made him love the sport more. When his journey with football was around 6 months, he became very good at balancing football in his forehead. He developed an overwhelming fascination with the annual Guinness World Records book.

He believed that physical strength would be vital to making record breaking history. Being expertise in athleticism, Konok’s very first record was about putting 600 one-time cups in his forehead, a that would be no easy feat to overcome. Second record was putting guitar in his forehead up to 25minutes.

From that point this Feni polytechnic 4th year student, along with studies mastered the art of balancing and eager to incorporate more record breaking experiences into his story. In 3rd record he threw basketball from one neck to another for 46 times.4th record was about keeping guitar in chin around 15minutes & 40 seconds.

Saying an interesting story explaining world records doesn't always cost much is about keeping eggs on the opposite side of the palm. He felt of doing such a record with egg as it being a common food during those hostel days. And he feels happy when he thinks to break the world record by using 20 taka only.

While he was involved in overcoming limitations, developing spiritually and growing the sense of “nothing is impossible” ,trying to make his dream to break the genius book records a concrete reality; some people , friends and neighbors weren't in support of him. However, some people within them always supported him and his practice. Though negligence was painful for him, some appreciation and support made him stronger than pain. He trained for hours, over the course of several weeks, familiarizing himself with the principles that every GWR title-holder must master in order to achieve a record.

With the help of friends, he quickly widened his collection of titles to contain a long list of impressive attempts. For team member selection following the rules of genius book committee like any member should be expert in that game or part, others members can be from friends.6th record about holding landmor machine which is used for cutting grass. He kept it in his chin up for a 7min.7th record was for keeping football for a long time in the knee. He kept football in his knee for around 4min 6sec. But recently one Indian guy has broken this record.8th record about keeping a pencil behind of the palm. He kept 40 pencils within 30 sec.9th records about holding chairs in the chin. He held it up to 35min.His 15th record was balancing ball nose to forehead and again forehead to nose. 63 times continuously he did.

By breaking lots of world records, that can be categorized as challenging and fun, he wants to send a message to everyone that if you set your mind, if you are patient, if you believe your-self and if you practice, then everything will be possible by you. Asking about how he progressed towards achieving daunting goals, Konok said,”4things - dedication, confidence, believing yourself and most important is practice and hard work. Many people still wonder what prompted him to embark on the daunting mission of achieving more GWR.

He said," No GWR holder gets any help from the Govt or any other organizations. But he hopes, Govt. will come forward to support these title holders”. When he wants to break another record or better practice , he gives his proposal to some organization those who are working for youth or innovators for sponsorship. Some organizations are helping him. Dhrubotara Youth Development Foundation- (DYDF) him once.

Though he spent a majority of his life focusing on making new record titles, he aims to be a skilled engineer. Although he has no schedule to do practice, everyday he tries to put some time on his work. He makes the best use of the rest of the time being indulged in studying and other activities. His relentless pursuit of world records is an astounding example of how seeds of ambition can grow.

We DYDF-India team wishes him the best and all the success he deserves in the world.
