Gaming, a new profession?

Gaming, a new profession?

Increasing numbers of young video gamers view esports (i.e., competitive video gaming) as a career opportunity, rather than just a recreational activity. Previous studies have explored the motivational differences between esport and recreational gamers and the motivational changes through career journey to become a professional esports player. The present study explored the predictors of career plans to become a professional esports player, with a specific focus on gaming motivations. Gaming time, gaming motivations, and esport-related playing experience were also examined among Hungarian gamers with competitive gaming experiences (N = 190), such as years spent in esports, medium, and frequency of participating in esports tournaments, the effort put into training before the tournaments, and the plans to become a professional esports player.

Choosing a Career is one of the most important decisions that youth has to take but many young people find this is a hard issue to engage with professional games could provide a more engaging and motivating way of acquiring professional awareness and competence for career decision making and learning.
It's no secret that today's youth have a love of games. Nowadays games can help with visual perception and may also help kids to develop task management skills, particularly multitasking. It can also improve mental skills Such as problem solving and logic
We can also earn money by podcast, video game tutorial, sell games. There are many websites to earn some cash while playing games online. Playing games can compete with other games and get paid for winning competitions. Gamers can also win gaming tournaments and earn sponsorship. There are also many websites that provide online games and make money by playing these games. There are also some games like board games, card games or mind sport which gibes world championship. The above things are the good sides of the game but there are also some bad sides which affect badly a gamer's life such as restlessness or irritability when unable to play. Sometimes gamers lie to friends and family members regarding the amount of time spent playing. Recently, The WHO(WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION)  officially recognized "gaming disorder" as a mental health condition adding the disorder to the international classification of diseases or the ICD-11.
So we should be careful about the above things that we can use ourselves in-game with good sides and ignore bad sides then the youth can make a good career with the game. Binary logistic regressions were carried out and results showed that the gaming motivations of competition, skill development, and social motivations predicted career planning as a professional esport player. Additionally, results showed that younger players were more likely to seek career opportunities as professional esport players than older players. Future studies should focus on novice esport players’ psychological exposure to the hypercompetitive scene of esports, such as high expectations or the risk of becoming problematic videogame users due to their motivational changes.
